About: - The Communist Party of India (Marxist), commonly known as CPI(M), is a political party in India that was formed in 1964 as a result of a split in the Communist Party of India (CPI). The CPI(M) is committed to Marxism-Leninism and has traditionally been associated with left-wing policies. The party's founding members included prominent Marxist leaders such as E.M.S. Namboodiripad, A.K. Gopalan, and P. Ramamurthy. The split in the CPI was primarily due to differences over the party's approach to the Indian National Congress (INC), which was then in power at the center. In national politics, the CPI(M) is part of the Left Front alliance, which also includes other leftist parties such as the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP).
