Background
May17 Movement is a tamil based movement organisation which was founded and led by Thirumurugan Gandhi who was like to call himself comrade. He took part in the anti-CAA agitation in Tripura as well and gave his support to it. The May 17 Movement led by Thirumurugan is similarly opposing PFI's Ban due to terror accusations. Thirumurugan utilised the May 17 Movement to incite enmity among Tamils against the Indian government.

In an attempt to launch a campaign against Tamil Brahmins among Tamilians, Dravidianist separatist Thirumurugan Gandhi also stated that "Tamil Brahmin dialect is 'casteist' while other Tamil dialects are not." The founder of the May 17 Movement, Thirumurugan, was a follower of Velupillai Prabhakaran, who was implicated in several questionable activities, such as the assassination of an Indian prime minister. Additionally, he ran a pro-Palestine movement via the official May 17 Movement.
