Background
Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was founded by Kanshiram B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary (14 April 1984). Kanshi Ram named Mayawati, a former school teacher, as the BSP's successor in 2001.They participated in the anti-EMV, anti-democratic movement as well. The BSP says it represents people at the lowest rung of the Hindu social system, officially designated as members of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, as well as other religious and social minorities.
