Champai Soren is an Indian politician who has served as Jharkhand's seventh chief minister after Hemant Soren's arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on allegations of money laundering on February 2, 2024. Soren is an MLA for seven times. After winning a seat in the Bihar Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1991 from Seraikella, he served two terms there until 2000. He joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) during the independent Jharkhand state struggle.

Soren is an MLA for seven times. After winning a seat in the Bihar Legislative Assembly for the first time in 1991 from Seraikella, he served two terms there until 2000. He joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) during the independent Jharkhand state struggle. Before joining JMM, he worked as a freelance MLA. Later, from 2005 to 2024, he served four consecutive terms as the Seraikella assembly constituency's representative in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.
