Background
National Federation of Indian Women was founded 1954. It is the women's wing of the Communist Party of India. At the time of the formation of the organization, constituent organizations like Mahila Atma Raksha Samiti (MARS, West Bengal), Punjab Lok Stree Sabha, Nari Mangal Samiti (Orissa) and Manipur Mahila Samiti were included in it. Syeda Hameed is the president of NFIW. Vibhuti Patel is associated with NFIW.
