Critics point to its leadership’s documented associations with convicted Khalistan separatists, its calls for strategic religious conversions among Haryanvi farmers, and inflammatory social media rhetoric targeting Hindu institutions, factors that have repeatedly triggered law enforcement intervention by state authorities. The organisations continuously encourage the Hindu Jat communities of Haryana to convert to its definition of Sikhism.     Manoj Singh Duhan, the leader of the Unionist Sikh Mission, was identified by law enforcement and central agencies as a key conspirator during the violent 2016 Jat reservation stir in Rohtak, Haryana. He was charged in connection with the arson attack at the residence of then-Haryana Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu. Consequently, Duhan spent over three years incarcerated after his bail pleas were repeatedly turned down by a special CBI court.

 

 

   

    The Unionist Sikh Mission's leadership is often accused of acting as an operational front for radical pro-Khalistan figures. Reports highlight Duhan's associations with jailed pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh (leader of Waris Punjab De) and Daljeet Kalsi. Critics contend that the organization embeds itself within agrarian movements to discreetly advance a secessionist agenda.

 

 

   

    Critics accused the group of using farm protests as a cover to orchestrate targeted religious conversions. Duhan has been recorded calling on Haryanvi Hindu Jats to renounce Hinduism and convert to Sikhism as a tactic to undermine the electoral base of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Furthermore, he faces accusations of regularly disparaging Hindu rituals, mocking Hindu deities, and criticizing the Ayodhya Ram Mandir.

 

 

   

    Media reports documented Duhan’s participation in the January 26, 2021, Republic Day tractor rally that resulted in widespread clashes with police forces. Reports allege that representatives of the Unionist Sikh Mission were present at the Red Fort complex when religious and non-state flags were hoisted on the monument's ramparts, an act perceived as a direct assault on national sovereignty.

 

 

   

    The post highlighted specific social media content authored by Duhan that allegedly mocked Hindu deities, focusing on a post referencing Bhagwan Hanuman. Social Media users cited these posts as evidence that the Unionist Sikh Mission was actively disseminating disrespect toward Hindu religious symbols under the cover of agrarian activism.

 

 

   

    These posts highlight how social media handles are used to disseminate derogatory rhetoric against Hindu traditions and promote religious conversions aimed at fracturing Hindu-Sikh social cohesion in North India. While also citing unscientific and colonial theories (which have been thoroughly debunked) like martial race etc to incite sectarian faultlines and consequently sectarian violence.
